Delaware has become the 12th U.S. jurisdiction to legalize medical aid in dying. Governor Matt Meyer signed the Ron Silverio/Heather Block End-of-Life Options Act on May 20, 2025, allowing terminally ill, mentally competent adults to request life-ending medication. The law will take effect on January 1, 2026, and includes multiple safeguards such as confirmed diagnoses and waiting periods.
