Over the past 10 years, more and more Black women have begun to embrace their hair in all its ‘naturalness’ from afros and braids to funky twists and locks. Sisters can be seen sporting their natural hair with a positive attitude!

At Beauti~Locs by Tanya, we strive to provide an atmosphere of learning and transition. Oftentimes, the thought of wearing one’s hair in its’ natural state is associated with fear. Fear of the unknown and fear of failure….the inability to actually care for hair in its’ natural state. We find that a thorough consultation is all that is needed to start the ‘mindset shift’. Many times knowledge and support is all it takes to for a sister to embrace her natural hair.

Being an RN by profession, Walters states “I am very aware of many of the things that we do to our hair that is not good for it. My goal is to provide a natural hair system that will allow my clients to experience their hair in its most healthy state”.

At the end of a locking session, clients enjoy a soothing scalp massage complete with healing, fragrant oils.

The next time you are out and about, take a moment to notice all the sisters who have made the decision to ‘nurture their naturalness’. Upon noticing the pride in their stride, you just might decide to join them!
