Press Release 3/12/10
One Mic Stands for Haitito
Offer Talent and Love While Raising Funds for Haitian Brethren
On
January 12, 2010, the world was devastated by an earthquake that struck
Haiti that changed the face of how this generation would view natural
disaster forever. This earthquake was responsible for taking over 100,000
lives also leaving much of Haiti’s capital Port-au-Prince and surrounding
cities such as Jacmel in total ruins. As a result, millions of people
across the world wanted to do whatever they could to help out. The One
Mic Foundation, led by Tanee Johnson was no different and also felt
compelled to contribute in some way. Thus, the One Mic Foundation in
conjunction w/ Soul Fussion Radio will present: One Mic Stands
for Haiti, a fundraiser for the survivors of the Haitian
earthquake. “When
viewing the images of Haiti after the earthquake hit, I knew we had to
do something,” said Tanee. “I just made a few phone calls
to some great musicians and spoken word artists and we were all on the
same accord to lend our talent for a worthy cause.”
Several musicians plan to do just that on March 23rd, 2010 at 8 pm at
Pale Dogs, 618 Plaza Drive, Newark DE 19711. There will be performances
by the Tri-State Area’s best, including Neo-Soul, Jazz, Spoken Word and Hip Hop artists.
Some of the confirmed artists include: Wise Dome, Sid &The Soul Fussion Band,
Blue Chip, Lauren Lark, Shyster, John Carr, PoinDextor, Thoth Amun, Abdul/Mr.Chatman
and Sound Bwoi Killiaz. Admission for the fundraiser will be $10 (proceeds
will benefit earthquake victims' in Haiti).
