Kellen Tangle a.k.a. KELZtango is a Delaware artist looking to make waves in the music industry. Music is a big part of his life, but it was not until 2021 that he took to writing. Currently, he is featured on fellow artist and his beloved brother Zeeky El’s mixtape “Grapes + Sorbetto” and has released several singles in 2022.
Stephanie Dawkins (SD): Tell us about your talent.
KELZtango (KT): I am an entertainer. My main focus at the moment is music, however songwriting, performing, acting & scriptwriting are my forte.
SD: Why did you decide to become a business owner?
KT: I became a business owner because it was the smartest way to use my talents. Turning my talents into a business gave me certain liberties that most people want, but either don’t know how to obtain or feel like they cannot obtain. Also, being a business owner allows me to live in my gifts, and living in my gifts brings me joy. I believe you should love what you do and do what you love.
SD: Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
KT: At my core, I am a hip-hop artist whose content is vastly relatable. I speak on topics that most people can resonate with. My concepts are also stimulating. I try to make every song into a movie in a sense. Once I’ve put together a visual for a song, I want the viewer to feel like they are literally watching a movie or can easily see what they are watching being translated into a movie. On top of this, I am pleasant … haha.
SD: What’s your favorite part about doing business in Delaware?
KT: I feel like the connection to the people is the best part of doing business here in Delaware. Being able to tap-in and relate to both the entrepreneurs I’ve been blessed to conduct business with as well as the community of fans that show me their support has been amazing.
SD: What inspires you to do the work you do?
KT: Daily life is my main inspiration because it’s relatable. The fact that we all share extremely similar experiences is motivating. There are so many stories to be told and so much content that people need to hear so they can be inspired. What I do might set the tone for someone else’s day or life event. Beyond that, there are creative concepts and ideas that I want to see put in motion because I believe that they have the same potential. The potential to change a life. To some extent, on the fictional side of things, I would like to be what T’Challa, Shuri, Miles Morales, Ms. Marvel, or America Chavez were to a large portion of the black and brown community.
SD: What product or service do you offer?
KT: As of right now the only product I have to offer, other than my music which you can find on all platforms, is KELZtango merchandise. This includes shirts, bracelets (handmade by yours truly), and keychains. I am currently looking into producing a line of Croc charms as well.
SD: What keeps you motivated to keep following your dreams?
KT: My main motivation to continue moving forward with my dreams is knowing that The Most High has opened up doors for me to do what I do. I feel like these opportunities would not have otherwise been presented had I been doing something else. The second biggest motivation is my family. My wife and kids deserve to reap the fruits of the seeds that I sow. My final motivation is that I have started this journey so I will finish it!
SD: Is there anything we should be looking forward to coming from you or that you want our readers to know?
KT: Actually yes! I am currently working on my debut album. In addition to that I will be working on a few film projects this year.
SD: How can people follow and support KELZtango?
KT: They can visit my website: www.KELZtango.com and follow on social media at @KELZtango
