Emory Marshall Jr. is a spoken word artist born and raised in Delaware. He has been doing spoken word publicly for almost 6 years now after a friend encouraged him to step out on faith. He also has started modeling and walked in his 2nd Fashion Show this past April.

Stephanie Dawkins (SD): Why did you decide to become an artist?

Emory Marshall Jr. (EM): I decided to become an artist because I knew that if I continued to allow the fear of failure to keep me closed up, then I would never open myself to receive the blessings God potentially had for me.

SD: What inspires you to do the work you do?

EM: What inspires me to do art is my life. Since I was a child, art has always been a way through express myself through my darkest times. I am also inspired by my faith in God, as I try to use my art as a tool to put the spotlight on him

SD: What keeps you motivated to keep following your dreams?

EM: What keeps me motivated is my faith in God. Although I do believe that I am very talented, I know I didnt not obtain any of this through my talent alone. God has opened doors for me

SD: What’s your favorite part about doing business in Delaware?

EM: My favorite part about doing business in Delaware is connecting with some of the other businesses/artists that I know personally, as well as meeting new artists that are coming up.

SD: How can people follow and support you?

EM: They can follow me on Instagram at @emoryj96, Tiktok at @emoryjr94, and Facebook at Emory Marshall, Jr.
