Featured Black Business -French Quarters

The French Quarters, established in February 2010, is modeled after nothing in its vicinity. This one-of-a-kind social hall – not social club – is a fully licensed facility, open to catering to multiple demographics. Its soft setting includes amenities of a bar, but that’s definitely not the focal point of French Quarters; the stage is. The facility is like a local tavern crossed with a banquet hall, but offers more than a bar or a banquet hall alone. It’s very appealing for women and couples.

The French Quarters hosts everything from open mic (302 Live) and karaoke, to bridal and baby showers. City Council meetings are even held at this fabulous venue! Will Camp, the owner, mentioned with excitement, “[We] just got word that 302 [Live] is the best open mic in Delaware…period!

302 Live is the Ultimate Open Mic, hosted and overseen by Jus.Mee. It is held every Thursday at French Quarters. Artists are flying in from even as far as Tennessee to perform at 302 Live.  302 Live has had entertainers from New York, Jersey, and Baltimore just to name a few. Open mic consists of comedy, spoken word, singers, bands, and more.  The French Quarters houses 108 people, which is good when fans want to get up close and personal when celebrities perform. When asked if French Quarters will be renovated to accompany more guests, Camp stated that the intimate setting is what’s important. It allows the guest to take pictures and get autographs by the celebrity instead of just being in the crowd. The concert held at French Quarters last week was completely full, yet comfortable.  “If we have to do two shows, then we have to do two shows,” said Camp.

Aug 21 - 302 Live Concert Series - Jaguar Wright Live

Born in Philadelphia, Camp has resided in Delaware for 11 years now. He started off doing comedy at The Laff House in Philly and brought his passions with him to Delaware.  Camp passionately stated, “I’m also an entertainer and I love entertainment.”

In summary, Camp ended his interview with his slogan, “French Quarters is a piece of me; I hope it becomes a piece of you.”
