A modern-day Great Gatsby: high fashion with a vintage flair. That was the inspiration behind the latest Original Coloure Collective editorial shoot.
The Historic Le Cavalier at the Green Room inside Hotel Du Pont serves as the perfect background to the Collectiveâs second-styled editorial shoot. Garments by Dell Scott Collection were worn by model Jasmine Onyaâ, whose interview with Itâs Time Wilmingtonâs #PeopleofWilmDE can be . Photographer & Collective Co-Founder André Wright Jr. used his research on the psychology of color and used a palette of warm tones to evoke empathy and highlight the vintage feel of the shoot.
âHaving the opportunity to create this shoot in the Historic Le Cavalier at the Green Room was amazing,â says Fashion Stylist & Collective Co-Founder Sara A. Crawford. âBeing able to highlight minority and small-owned businesses in such a unique way has been so rewarding, and itâs a constant reminder of why the work we are doing in this Collective is so important! â
Next up for the team, a Collective Art Installation Show by TOCC member Andrew Major, which will premiere June 4. The Art Installation Show will be held in BPGâs MKT Gallery in Downtown Wilmington. The installation will feature his collection of comic book-style art pieces, Rumkake Universe. The name, he says, pays homage to his late grandmother, who made him a rum cake every holiday.
âI wanted to create more black and brown representation in the comic book world,â Major notes. âThe Rumkake Universe brings the black experience into the comic book world, including black female superheroes.â
