The Wilmington Center for Education Equity and Policy (WCEEP), established in 2020, serves as a formal Think Tank and advocacy organization, providing robust leadership, service, and support to improve access to an exceptional education for all students living in Wilmington, Delaware from Pre-K through Grade 12.
On Saturday, November 2nd WCEEP will host our 2nd Annual Education Summit titled “Brown, Black & Blue: 70 Years Post Brown, the Impact On Students and Educators in Wilmington, Delaware”.
The Summit will be held at Maurice Pritchett Sr. Academy-600 E. 7th Street, Wilmington, beginning at 9:00am. DE Elected Officials will welcome attendees, followed by keynote speaker
Cornell W. Brooks, a nationally renowned civil rights attorney, former National NAACP board president, and Harvard Kennedy School Professor. Three (3) concurrent solutions-oriented workshops led by local educators and advocates will conclude the convening at 12:30pm.
WCEEP’s Summit, now in our second year, serves as one of the organization’s primary initiatives engaging educators, elected officials, faith leaders, the legal community, students, parents, and community public education advocates in discussions toward solutions for Black and Brown students in Wilmington. Now more than ever, with Delaware ranking near the bottom for educational outcomes for students, we must coalesce to learn and strategize on solutions, at the school and systems level, for our students and the adults responsible for educating them.
