Governor-Elect Matt Meyer Nominates LaKresha Moultrie as Secretary of the Delaware Department of Labor

Today, Governor-elect Matt Meyer announced the nomination of LaKresha Moultrie as Secretary of the Delaware Department of Labor. Moultrie’s appointment, pending Senate confirmation, marks a key step in Meyer’s commitment to creating a robust workforce and ensuring equitable opportunities for all Delawareans.

“LaKresha brings a wealth of experience, passion, and a deep understanding of the challenges facing Delaware’s workers. She is a proven leader with a track record of empowering individuals, advocating for workers’ rights, and driving economic growth,” said Governor-elect Matt Meyer. “Her leadership will be critical in building a Delaware where every worker can thrive, from expanding workforce training to ensuring fair wages and safe working conditions.”

Moultrie has led a career dedicated to service in the Delaware community. She currently serves as the Vice President of Legal Affairs, General Counsel, and Chief Enterprise Risk Officer at Delaware State University. Prior to this role, Moultrie led a successful career at the Delaware Department of Justice, where she began as an entry-level prosecutor and rose through the ranks to Chief Deputy Attorney General.

Moultrie’s nomination reflects Governor-elect Meyer’s commitment to ensuring that Delaware’s economy works for everyone. As Secretary of the Department of Labor, Moultrie will be tasked with overseeing labor relations, worker safety, unemployment insurance, and workforce development programs, focusing on the creation of quality jobs, the strengthening of labor rights, and the reduction of employment disparities in underserved communities.
