Over the course of the last 5 years, between the 107th and 108th sessions, She has learned a lot. Rysheema was able to chair two Committees: Community Development and Urban Planning Committee (CDUP) and Health, Aging, and Disabilities Committee. Through CDUP, Rysheema co-founded the Healthy Communities Subcommittee and was able to create the Healthy Aging Subcommittee through Health, Aging, and Disabilities. Rysheema also served on Public Safety and Cable, Video, and Telecommunications Committees.

Rysheema Dixon also had the opportunity to put forth numerous pieces of legislation such as Sexual Consent Health Education adding it into curriculums at public schools, Vacant Housing, first-ever Disparity Study in the history of the City of Wilmington, to name a few. Rysheema has awarded scholarships to college students and supported non-profit organizations across the City. Rysheema provided funding to schools/community members to see pivotal historical movies at the IMAX Theater like Black Panthers, Harriet, and King Richard and spoke at graduations and events to support community members across the City. Rysheema Dixon had the pleasure of being a member of the Wilmington Awards Committee, UDAG Committee, Local Progress National Housing Steering Committee, National League of Cities- National Black Caucus, and Young Elected Officials. Rysheema is very proud of my accomplishments and the opportunities afforded to me as a City Council Member.

Last but certainly not least, she would like to thank her constituents for voting her in for two terms of public service; they are my reason for doing this work every day. Rysheema will truly miss working on behalf of the residents in the City of Wilmington. Everyone knows Rysheema Dixon LOVES the City of Wilmington, but now is the opportune time for her to move into my other endeavors.
