Brittany Onley and Shinika Crawley ( Bri & Shi) are the dynamic duo of MadeHerselfABoss! They guide aspiring entrepreneurs into the money-making CEOs they know they are destined to be. Their mission is to disrupt something in your spirit that allows you to show up fully for yourself so that you can start & grow your business!

How did you meet each other and get started in business?

Shi: I had reached out to Bri to speak to my audience at the time…

Bri: Yes she reached out to me through Instagram to speak at an upcoming event she was having. I was nervous but willing. I had a great time and was impressed with Shi so I reached back out to meet up and collaborate on something…  MadeHerselfABoss was created right there at the meetup.

What makes your organization different from other local organizations with the same mission?

At the time, neither one of us had heard of any other black, female, and millennial-owned organization focused on teaching women the basics of starting a business here in Wilmington. We were and still are heavily focused on zeroing in on the woman who wants to start a business but is hesitant as well as the woman who has started but is feeling stagnant. Both of these women can overcome doubts and thrive with the right business knowledge. We focus on the mindset, not just the business, and that’s what makes us stand out!

What products or services do you offer?

We provide business startup & business growth training and implementation parties that will help you shift your mindset and achieve your life and business goals through our annual Madeherselfaboss Conference now turned into “The Madeherselfaboss Intensive,” our signature social event “The Bossy Picnic,” and lastly our “Werkation” where we go away to a location have fun and work on our business.

Who is your ideal client?

We help the 9-5 millennial women who are stuck on how to start or grow their business,  gain clarity so that they can walk in confidence, double their cash flow, and commit to having the life they truly desire.

What are your biggest wins or success stories thus far?

Bri: There’s not a particular one that’s more important to me than another. Every time a woman comes to us and is so thankful or touched by our content that she gets emotional, that’s a win for me because it lets me know that we are helping. If it had to be an event, I’d say it was our Bossy Picnic last summer for existing and aspiring girl bosses. We sold out of that event so quickly and even had to slide a few ladies in because the demand was so serious. Ladies love to be around other like-minded ladies. That made me happy lol.

Shi: I couldn’t have said it any better than that! It’s when the women implement and see results for me! Or even the mindset shifts that happen in the room. I love hearing “thank you guys for having the space for women like us to feel safe and learn while feeling supported at the same time.”

Networking and finding a mentor can have such a positive impact on one’s business and career. Any advice?

Three important pieces of advice…

  1. Do your research! When looking for a mentor you want to find someone who is skilled in and is living proof of whatever it is you wish to accomplish. Social media, just like with everything else, is a great tool because you can really see this person and get a feel for them before you meet. If they are doing it right, and you are doing it right, you’ll know pretty quickly after meeting and/or researching someone that they’d be a great mentor for you.
  2. Don’t be scared to reach out. You have to open your mouth and be intentional! If there is someone you need to introduce yourself to for the betterment of yourself, don’t hesitate. Once you’ve chosen someone you believe would be a good mentor, make sure that they know who you are.
  3. Don’t be afraid to invest. Some who are considered experts in what you wish to be mentored are so good at giving their expertise that they come with a fee and there is nothing wrong with that. These “consultations” are usually dedicated time with you or with a small group of mentees just like you. With the right mentor, making an investment could double or triple what you’ve put into it making it well worth it in the end.

What can we look forward to in the future with your organization?

Going forward we are expanding upon our existing events ( The MHAB Conference, The Bossy Picnic, and The Werkation) to make each even more impactful for those who attend. We also plan to add more digital products so that we can help women grow their businesses at any time.

We’re both pretty creative and dedicated to sharing this knowledge so you may see some other cool things here and there throughout the year!

Any current or upcoming events that you are working on?

Yes, We have our Madeherselfaboss Intensive a 1-day experience for aspiring entrepreneurs to begin their transformation into money-making CEOs that create a business of impact and income. This is where entrepreneurs are doing the work inorder to have a plan. What we have seen is that entrepreneurs are not taking the time to be clear and plan for the increase they are desiring. In this intensive we will work on their foundation, tightening their Marketing & Messaging, and putting together their business formula to keep sales coming in.

Where do you see your organization five years from now?

5 years from now, we see ourselves having a shared workspace for women to run their businesses. We want to eliminate the limitations and excuses some women may experience when trying to grow and thrive. Having that space would be one way to help.

Also, we plan to take MadeHerselfABoss nationally with different events outside of Delaware, bringing them to other major cities around the US.

Is there anything else you would like our readers to know?

We want to make sure that anyone that reads this knows that they have the power to become the boss they want to be (Whatever that word BOSS means to them) all because they thought about it. Just decide and start making moves the rest will fall in line with grace and ease as you are becoming.

Thank you so much again for sharing all of this with us. Before you go, can you share with our readers how they can connect with you, learn more or show support?

Yes, Let’s stay connected! Follow us on Instagram, you can always DM us and we will reply back. If you need help on how to move your business forward make sure you’re on our email list where we share those opportunities.
