A new trivia app created in Delaware is putting Black cultural knowledge to the test.

Wilmington entrepreneur Leonard Young, founder of Delawareblack.com, and National Black Guide LLC, has launched CultureCheck, an interactive Black culture trivia platform featuring more than 10,000 questions covering history, music, sports, entertainment, politics, business, HBCUs, faith, entrepreneurship and more.

CultureCheck officially launched in the Apple App Store on August 24. Android users can play directly online at CultureCheckApp.com without downloading an app.

The concept centers around a simple question: How well do you really know Black culture?

Players can choose from 34 trivia packs across 11 categories, with quick quizzes designed to combine competition with learning. Questions include explanations that provide additional cultural context, while scores and leaderboards allow players to compete against others.

CultureCheck100 Puts Players to the Test

One of the app’s signature features is CultureCheck100, a 100-question challenge covering multiple areas of Black culture.

Players have 18 minutes to complete the challenge and earn a score they can compare with other CultureCheck players on the leaderboard.

For those looking for a shorter game, individual trivia packs offer quick 10-question rounds covering specific subjects and areas of Black culture.

CultureCheck also features special CultureChallenges, four-minute trivia experiences that can be connected to holidays, historic moments, awareness campaigns and community partnerships.

A Question of the Day gives players another opportunity to test their knowledge each day.

Delaware State Graduate Named CultureCheck Ambassador

CultureCheck also has a Delaware connection in front of the camera. Saniya Gay, a Delaware State University graduate and the first National Miss Juneteenth, has been named CultureCheck’s official Ambassador and Trivia Host.

Gay will appear in CultureCheck content and help with community engagement as the platform grows.

Bringing Black Culture Into Interactive Entertainment

Young has spent approximately two decades building digital platforms focused on Black communities through National Black Guide and related media properties. CultureCheck expands that work into mobile technology and gaming.

“CultureCheck was created to make cultural knowledge fun, accessible and competitive,” Young said. “We wanted to build something people could enjoy while learning something new and pushing themselves along the way.”

The platform is operated by NBG Mobile Apps, LLC, Young’s digital media and mobile app company focused on culture, community, education and engagement.

CultureCheck includes both free and premium trivia content, with additional questions, packs and other content planned as the platform continues to grow.

CultureCheck is available now in the Apple App Store. Android users can play online at CultureCheckApp.com.
