Charlamagne Tha God and Anderson Cooper recently engaged in a tense exchange over CNN’s coverage of Vice President Kamala Harris compared to former President Donald Trump. Charlamagne challenged Cooper on CNN’s focus on Harris’ race, arguing that the network has paid less attention to Trump’s controversial rhetoric and the portrayal of him by former staffers as a fascist.
According to CNN, the discussion unfolded on Thursday (October 24) when Charlamagne appeared as a panelist on Cooper’s nightly show. Cooper brought up the news of Trump’s upcoming appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience and asked Charlamagne if Harris should consider appearing on similar platforms. Charlamagne had a strong response.
“I think she should keep calling Donald Trump a fascist,” Charlamagne stated. “Americans need to pay attention to the language Trump uses. Why are we even considering electing someone who talks about putting people in camps?” He continued, “Why are we discussing electing someone who talks about mass deportation or wants to terminate the Constitution to overturn an election?”
Charlamagne ended his response with, “Even now, you brought the conversation back to Kamala and Joe Rogan. Anderson, who really cares?” Cooper replied by suggesting that voters might want to hear from Harris on the platform.
Charlamagne then criticized the network’s focus, saying, “I feel like I hear more about whether Kamala Harris is Black than I do about Trump being a fascist.” His comment went viral and visibly flustered Cooper, who shot back, “Honestly, that’s bullsh*t.” The discussion quickly derailed as Charlamagne doubled down, asserting that CNN hasn’t scrutinized Trump’s words enough in comparison.
