A Delaware family, the Smiths (@thesmithspartyof6), is showing the world what faith, hard work, and family love can build, one screw at a time. Their journey began when dad took a one-way flight to Tampa, Florida to purchase a retired 40-foot school bus, with dreams of transforming it into their first tiny home on wheels.

After driving the bus 986 miles back home to Delaware, baby Izzy was born at just 33 weeks, within 30 minutes of dad’s arrival home. Once mom and baby were settled, the building began.

The Smiths completely stripped the bus down, removing thousands of screws, recycling old materials, and working closely with a local woodshop owner who supplied affordable lumber. From there, they insulated the bus, installed electrical wiring, and started rebuilding their dream home from the ground up — all while caring for newborn Izzy, who’s been a “cool baby through it all.” 👶🏽💪🏾

Inside, The Blue Pearl now features:

  • A nine-foot family bed and a convertible dinette table that doubles as another bed 🛏️
  • A fully functional kitchen with an oven-stove combo, countertops, and a refrigerator 🍳
  • Hot and cold running water and a bathroom with shower (nearly complete) 🚿
  • Two diesel heaters that keep the bus warm in any weather 🔥
  • Two Max Air fans for ventilation — one in the front, one in the back 🌬️
  • 2750 watts of solar power with monitoring system ☀️
  • Two TVs, built-in charging stations, and storage for each family member’s clothes 📺🔌
  • A 100-gallon fresh water tank hidden beneath the master bed 💧

After months of work, The Blue Pearl is almost road-ready, needing only final touches like flooring and electrical finishing.

What started as one man’s cross-country mission has grown into a powerful symbol of family dedication and creative vision. With every wall painted and wire connected, the Smiths are building more than a bus, they’re building memories and freedom.
