The Delaware Juneteenth Association (DEJA) is proud to announce its lineup of events for Juneteenth 2025, honoring the enduring legacy of freedom, culture, and African American history. This year’s series of events promises a vibrant mix of community celebration, cultural enrichment, and powerful reflection.

The festivities begin on Monday, June 2, 2025, at 12 noon with the 6th Annual World Juneteenth Flag Raising Ceremony. Held to officially kick off Juneteenth celebrations across the country, this symbolic event will feature remarks from Governor Matt Meyer and other local and state elected officials. As the flag is raised, attendees will unite in commemorating the fight for freedom and progress for Black Americans.

This day-long celebration will feature family fun, games, vendors, cultural performances, and children’s entertainment—creating an atmosphere of joy, pride, and community.

The official Juneteenth Observance Ceremony will take place on Thursday, June 19, at 2:00 p.m. at New Destiny Fellowship Church, 906 16th Street, Wilmington. Now in its 31st year, the observance will be hosted by IMAC and ZBishop George Gibson, with a keynote address from the dynamic Dr. Jamal Harrison Bryant, a national faith and social justice leader.

The month of celebration will conclude with the 28th Annual Juneteenth Enrichment Program and Miss Juneteenth Delaware Pageant on Saturday, June 21, at 5:00 p.m. at the Baby Grand, Grand Opera House, 818 Market Street, Wilmington. This event will spotlight young women representing the spirit of Juneteenth through leadership, grace, and cultural pride.

The Delaware Juneteenth Association invites the entire community to join in honoring the journey from slavery to freedom and celebrating the richness of Black heritage and resilience.
