“This election is important to the state of Delaware and the Democratic Party in Delaware. I believe our taxpayer dollars should be used as a catalyst for opportunity and innovation, empowering social good, rising to the challenges of the moment, and preparing for our best future using insight and care. I am running for Auditor to ensure that the Auditors office operates with a level of accountability and transparency. There is work to be done and someone has to do the work. I intend to do that work.”

BACKGROUND

Lydia was born in Southern Pines, North Carolina and at the age of six Moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania with her parents. Attended Pittsburgh Public Schools and graduated from Peabody High School. Studied piano and cello.  Participated in All-City Orchestra.  Lettered in swimming, volleyball, and basketball.

I like to go to college as I have a lot of friends here and we participate in different activities together. In order to combine it with my studying I go to , an educational resource for students. It helps me to do all my assignments on time and save a lot of time.

Lydia, later on, attended Florida A&M University and graduated Magna cum Laude, majoring in accounting. While at Florida A&M University she served as a student government representative, and class President, and became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, a role she still proudly represents to this day.

Lydia returned to Pittsburgh and worked at Coopers & Lybrand (PricewaterhouseCoopers) and American Hardware Supply Co. (TruServe) as an accounting supervisor. Lydia started her career in public accounting with Coopers & Lybrand, a predecessor of PriceWaterhouseCoopers, and became a Certified Public Accountant.

She attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania earning an MBA with a concentration in Finance. She spent ten years working on complex financial products at Mellon Bank, N.A., Westinghouse Credit Corporation, and Duquesne Light Company. Before switching to the legal profession, she helped a start-up internet company raise over $1 million. After graduating from Temple University Beasley School of Law, she clerked for the Honorable Phillip Lewis Paley, J.S.C. in the Middlesex Vicinage of New Jersey. At the conclusion of her clerkship, she completed an LL.M. in Taxation.
