It took two weather delays, 7½ hours, and a dramatic finish, but Delaware State University football secured a historic win on Saturday, September 6, 2025. In his debut season as head coach, NFL great Desean Jackson earned his first career victory as DSU topped Albany in a 37–32 thriller.

The Hornets leaned on the playmaking of quarterback Kaiden Bennett, who delivered a performance to remember. Bennett scored three long rushing touchdowns, including a dazzling 27-yard run with just 34 seconds left to seal the victory.
Albany refused to go quietly, with quarterback Jack Shields throwing four touchdown passes and adding a rushing score of his own. But despite Shields’ heroics, the Hornets outlasted the Great Danes in one of the longest and most dramatic games in recent college football memory.
The win not only marks a milestone for Coach Desean Jackson, but also signals a new era of energy and resilience for Delaware State football.
