Jordan Ponzo Perry Nominated by Gov. Meyer to Serve as Judge on DE Court of Common Pleas

Ponzo Perry’s path reflects a strong foundation in education and community leadership. She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Delaware and her Juris Doctor from Howard University School of Law, one of the nation’s leading historically Black universities. She also serves as an Adjunct Professor at Wilmington University, where she teaches courses in contracts, torts, and cyberlaw, helping to prepare the next generation of legal professionals.

In addition to her career in the courtroom, Perry is an active member of the Delaware Barristers Association and Black Women Lawyers of Delaware, organizations that promote diversity, mentorship, and advancement within the legal profession. She has also contributed to the Delaware State Bar Association’s Nominating Committee and currently serves on the Superior Court Civil Rules Committee, reflecting her commitment to both service and leadership in the legal community.

Professionally, Perry brings broad experience as both a prosecutor and civil litigator. She currently serves as an Assistant County Attorney for New Castle County, where she represents the Department of Public Safety in matters involving law enforcement, emergency responders, and county officials. Earlier in her career, she worked as an Assistant State’s Attorney in Prince George’s County, Maryland, trying a wide range of misdemeanor and felony cases. She later became a partner at a Wilmington-based law firm, handling personal injury, toxic tort, and abuse litigation.

Governor Meyer praised Perry’s “dedication to justice, fairness, and integrity,” noting that her career has been shaped by a consistent commitment to public service. The Delaware Senate is scheduled to review her nomination during an extraordinary session on September 22, 2025, where Perry’s combination of professional expertise, academic involvement, and community engagement will be at the forefront.
