“DECIDE. NO MORE EXCUSES.”

🔥 The Pop-Up Experience

In a post announcing the event, Valentin shared:

The event offers Delaware shoppers the chance to meet Thenard in person, experience Fluent Foreigner’s newest capsule, and connect with the message that drives the brand.

🎓 The Man Behind the Brand

A proud Lincoln University graduate with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and Management, Valentin blends education, faith, and creativity in everything he does.

Growing up in Newark, Delaware, he discovered early on how fashion could express confidence and identity.

“As a young adolescent of Haitian descent, I was always interested in trendy fashion but wasn’t afforded the luxuries due to my parents’ simple yet frugal way of life,” Valentin said. “I made the best with what I had — slacks, button-up shirts, sweaters, and shoes — and wore them with pride.”

That self-assurance and authenticity became the foundation for what would later become Fluent Foreigner.

🧵 The Mission Behind Fluent Foreigner

Fluent Foreigner stands for more than just clothes — it’s a mindset.

“It’s about embracing individualism and not conforming to what others may deem the norm,” Valentin explains. “Being comfortable with yourself despite disagreement or ridicule. But in order to walk this path, you must first DECIDE. NO MORE EXCUSES.”

As a Christian entrepreneur, Valentin designs pieces that blend scripture, quotes, and streetwear aesthetics — creating garments that speak to both faith and fashion.

“The goal is for people to relate to the message and see how it applies to their walk,” he said. “When creating garments, you have to tell a story the customer can connect with. Fellowship is key — it’s what connects the message to the movement.”

💡 From $500 to a Movement

Valentin’s journey began with only $500 and a clear vision.

He started small — selling fitted caps and accessories, reinvesting profits to create his first T-shirts.

“It was just a simple black short sleeve tee that said DECIDE. NO MORE EXCUSES across the front,” he recalled. “I bought 100 units and sold them out of the trunk of my car for $40 each.”

What truly made the difference wasn’t just the product — it was the story.

“It was the fellowship that sold, not just the tee,” he said. “Hearing how the message resonated with others was paramount. That’s when I realized my business walk might not be like any other.”
