Vice President J.D. Vance is praising former President Donald Trump for his role in the recently signed peace agreement between the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Rwanda, calling it “truly historic.”

Speaking about the treaty, Vance suggested that Black Lives Matter supporters should thank Trump, claiming he “has done more to save Black lives than any leader in our country.”

The peace deal, signed earlier this week, aims to end decades of violent conflict between the two African nations. The treaty has been welcomed by international observers as a major step toward stability in Central Africa, where millions have been affected by displacement and regional violence.

While Vice President Vance credited Trump’s diplomacy for the agreement, critics point out that peace talks have been ongoing for years with leadership from the African Union, regional governments, and global humanitarian organizations.

Vance’s comments sparked mixed reactions online. Supporters praised the acknowledgment of Trump’s involvement, while others argued that the statement politicized a complex international issue. The Black Lives Matter movement has not released an official response.
