Two trailblazing leaders, Charlotte King and Charlotte Miller-Lacy, have been inducted into the 2025 Delaware Women’s Hall of Fame, honoring their decades of service, leadership, and transformative impact on communities across the First State.
Charlotte King: A Champion for Racial Justice and Civic Engagement
Charlotte King is the Founder of the Southern Delaware Alliance for Racial Justice (SDARJ), where she served as Chair for its first eight years and now holds the title of Chair Emeritus. A graduate of St. John’s College in Annapolis and Fordham University School of Social Work, King is a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) and retired Social Service Administrator whose career reflects a lifelong dedication to equity, civic participation, and community empowerment.
She has led and served in numerous organizations, including two terms as President of the Delaware League of Women Voters and over four years as a member of the Delaware Commission for Women. Her community involvement spans many boards and initiatives, such as First State Community Action Agency, Lewes Historical Society, West Rehoboth Trust, Women’s March Sussex County, The Way Home, Speak Out Against Hate, Nassau School Coalition, the Community Minority Liaison Commission for the Cape Henlopen School District, and the Delaware Criminal Justice Council.
In addition to policy and advocacy work, King provided mental health services to children and families through Delaware Guidance for Children and volunteered with organizations like Beebe Healthcare, St. Peter’s Lewes, St. George’s Chapel, and Big Brothers/Big Sisters. Her service has been recognized with honors including the Kandler Award from the Delaware ACLU, the Jefferson Award, the Common Cause Award, and the Mitchell Award from the Stonewall Chapter of Sussex County. She also holds the distinction of Honorary Commander of State Police Troop 7.
Charlotte Miller-Lacy: Empowering Women and Bridging Communities
Charlotte Miller-Lacy is the Founder and National Executive Director of I Am My Sister’s Keeper (IAMMSK) and the MSK Community Center. Known as a passionate, purpose-driven leader, author, and speaker, she has transformed the lives of thousands of girls, women, and families through mentorship, holistic programs, and community support.
Launched in Wilmington in 2015, IAMMSK is a network of diverse women committed to helping girls and women reach their highest potential as Responsible, Resilient, and Respectful leaders. The organization has grown to include chapters in Dover and Milford, Delaware, as well as Chester, Pennsylvania.
In 2022, Miller-Lacy opened the MSK Community Center in Wilmington’s Hedgeville neighborhood, providing a safe space for people of all ages and offering programs in health, fitness, education, life skills, and financial well-being. Together, IAMMSK and the MSK Community Center serve as a beacon of hope, “bridging the gap between home, school, and community” through strong partnerships with government, business, and volunteers.
Her work has earned numerous awards, including recognition from Delaware Online as one of the “25 Most Influential in Community Impact” (2025), the NAACP President’s Award (2023), and the President Joe Biden Lifetime Achievement Award (2022) for over 4,000 hours of volunteer service.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Miller-Lacy is a devoted wife of 25 years, mother of six, and grandmother of ten. Affectionately called “Momma Lacy,” she is guided by her core principles of Faith, Family, Friends, Persistence, and a Positive Attitude.
