YWCA Delaware has announced the appointment of Felisha Lawrence, MSJA, as its new Chief Development Officer, a leadership move that underscores the organization’s continued commitment to housing stability, equity, and community empowerment throughout Delaware.
Lawrence, who has served as a housing grant consultant for YWCA Delaware since spring 2024, brings more than a decade of experience in housing policy, grant management, and community-based program leadership. In her new role, she will oversee all contributed revenue efforts, including institutional grants, individual giving, donor relations, and communications, while helping shape long-term fundraising strategy.
As Chief Development Officer, Lawrence will work closely with the organization’s executive leadership and Board of Directors to strengthen fundraising systems, deepen partnerships with funders and community organizations, and ensure the sustainability of programs that support individuals and families statewide.
“I believe everyone deserves the dignity of a safe and stable place to call home,” Lawrence said. “I’m excited to step into this role with an organization that provides real pathways to healing, empowerment, and leadership. I also look forward to helping more people understand the depth of YWCA Delaware’s impact in our communities.”
Before joining YWCA Delaware, Lawrence served as Regional Program Manager for the Veterans Multi-Service Center, overseeing housing programs across Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey that supported veterans and their families. She previously worked with Housing Alliance Delaware as a Senior Program Specialist, leading grant acquisition and coordination efforts for homelessness assistance and permanent housing initiatives in collaboration with statewide partners.
YWCA Delaware leadership praised Lawrence’s appointment as the organization continues to diversify its revenue streams to meet growing community needs.
“As our work expands, we are thrilled to welcome Felisha’s passion, energy, and authenticity to our leadership team,” said Melissa Gonville, CEO of YWCA Delaware. “She is a true change agent who brings both heart and discipline to building stronger, more inclusive communities.”
Carolann Wicks, President of the Board of Directors, echoed that sentiment, noting Lawrence’s ability to connect vision with action. “Felisha understands how our programs work together to expand opportunity and align resources with community priorities. She has a unique ability to inspire funders, partners, and policymakers, and we’re grateful for her leadership as YWCA Delaware continues to grow its reach.”
A New Castle resident, Lawrence holds a Master of Science in Administration of Justice from Wilmington University and a Bachelor of Science in Anthropology and Pre-Law from James Madison University. She remains deeply committed to advancing equity, housing access, and opportunity through collaboration, inclusive leadership, and strategic philanthropy.
