Delaware Black proudly hosted the Red Carpet interviews for the 46th Annual DCA Awards Luncheon last week, bringing together students, educators, and community leaders to celebrate achievement, leadership, and future career pathways through the Jobs for Delaware Graduates (JDG) program.
Students from 13 high schools and 4 middle schools participated in the 2026 Competitive Events, demonstrating their knowledge, skills, and growth developed through their JDG coursework. The event served as a powerful platform for students to showcase their talents while engaging with peers and professionals.
Adding to the day’s inspiration, Saniya Gay who also serves as The Inaugural and National Ms. Juneteenth and the leading contributor for Delaware Black, attended the luncheon, interviewing and connecting with students across participating schools, reinforcing the importance of leadership, confidence, and community engagement.
Top honors were awarded to Dover Middle School and Newark High School, each earning the prestigious Chapter of the Year recognition for their outstanding commitment to student success and program excellence.
Educators were also recognized for their dedication and impact. Star Naranjo of Dover Middle School and Jim Schulte of Newark High School were named Teachers of the Year, honoring their leadership and commitment to guiding students from the classroom to their careers.
The competition’s top-performing team, POCS, earned first place and will advance to represent Delaware at the national level in Salt Lake City, Utah, where they will compete against schools from across the country for a chance to earn a national championship title.
“This event reflects the power of preparation, mentorship, and opportunity. We are incredibly proud of every student who participated and grateful to the educators and partners who continue to invest in their success,” said Porsha Green and Chevonne Boyd Public Relations and Marketing Directors of the Communications Team from Jobs for Delaware Graduates.
The 46th Annual DCA Awards Luncheon stands as a testament to the impact of JDG programs in shaping the next generation of leaders, equipping students with the tools they need to succeed in school, career, and life.
